Jody Watley – Renderings EP
When I received a copy of her new EP this week, it suddenly struck me! From Shalamar in the 70s till now, I practically grew up with Jody Watley. Damn, I’m getting old! Wait, if you reading this Ms Watley, I meant I’m getting old and bold, you look lovely as ever! (I’m not gonna recover from this, am I?)
Anyway, in recent years she’s been working closely with remix extraordinaire Alex Di Ciò and to showcase how well they work together, they’ve just dropped this mighty fine collection of four slick re-imagined grooves.
But besides the groovelicious remixes of singles of her Midnight Lounge and The Makeover albums, the EP also holds the brand new single Not A Single Day Goes By, a song anyone can relate to in one way or another, and includes blistering guitar riffs by former New Power Generation member Levi Seacer.
So whether you grew up with Jody Watley like me, or you’re discovering her music just now, with Renderings: The Alex Di Ciò Remixes EP, she’s going stronger than ever! And if you’re old-school like me, the EP will also become available as a limited edition 4 panel foldout digipak, including two additional remixes currently not available on the digital release. Just sayin’…
